Week 71  This week we get the framework for the veneer and a bit of the carb

The bits we received

And what we did with them

Not quite so straight forward this week.  I used super glue for this, after doing a quick test with a piece of scrap.  One thing to watch.  Super glue softens the brown colour of the stick-backed plastic, so don't rub off excess super glue, or you'll end up with white streaks.  Put the ply frames in place, then hold the veneer in place with pegs.  Now adjust the position of the frames so that the veneer buts up against the fire wall, and there is an even border of veneer around the frames.

With the veneer held in place, add a tiny drop of super glue to the apex of the triangle, and to the frames near the fire wall.  Not too close as you don't want to stick anything to the fire wall just yet.  That should have tacked the frame to the veneer.  You can now remove the pegs and fire wall, and then run a thin bead of super glue along the full length of the frames to glue them in place.

This brought one slight problem to light.  The frame obscures the hole very slightly.  I simply bent the frame a little, so it's curved round the hole, rather than going straight across it.

Here is the completed frame.  The white marks are residue from the super glue and will get cleaned off after the glue has dried.
