Week 56 This week we are due to receive the wing tip skids, but they have been delayed.

And what we did with them
I cleaned the parts and sprayed them with shite car primer first. Then they were painted with a dark brown paint.
Next comes the dry brushing. This is quite a simle technique, but needs a little explanation. First take a contrastig colour. I use a tan colour. Dip the brush in and wipe off all the excess paint. Now take some scrap paper and paint it until no more paint is coming off the brush. I.e. It is dry ! Then just brush the skids with this dry brush. Slowly the little remaining paint on the brush will highlight the raised texture. The photo below shows the before and after. You will need to recharge the brush several times tom complete each skid. While you're practicing, it is best to start with a brush that is too dry rather than not dry enough. Dont worry if you get too much paint on the part. Wait for it to dry, then dry brush over it with the original colour. That will tone down the effect.
Finally, paint in the metal parts. I used a steel colour. I find that silver is too bright for most metal parts.

Hot tip of the week
Use a medium or large, old brush for dry brushing. The technique ruins new brushes.
