Week 45 This week we get the spars which form the trailing edge spars, leading edge and aileron hinge line
The bits we received
Various sizes of strips of wood
And what we did with them
First off I decided that I would taper the aileron hinge line after fixing the wood to the wing. I reckon this will be less fiddly. Next I measured and cut the wood to length, and joined the two strips as shown in the photo. Clothes pegs held them while the glue was drying.
The next job was to add the trailing edge spar to the centre section. Very straight forward.
This was closely followed by the leading edges. The above photo shows how you should finish the leading edge half way through the thickness of the rib.
Now add the aileron hinge spars. I found that I needed to trim a little off the end of each rib to get a good fit.
Finally sand everything smooth.
Hot tip of the week
Happiness is a sharp modelling knife.
How many hours does it take to build the model ??
