Week 07  This week the ribs for the starboard lower wing

The bits we received

And what we did with them

This week is exactly the same as week 3, but there are a couple of points to mention.

Firstly, make sure you build a starboard wing - the main spars are identical port and starboard.  The only difference at this stage is the direction of the ribs.

Secondly, there has been a design improvement.  After week 3 there were some problems with the rear tips of the ribs breaking as they were very fine.  To get over this the rear of the tips have been made thicker.  Once the trailing edge spars have been fitted they will be sanded down to the correct profile.  Here's how I coped with this design change.

Firstly, mark the finished line of the ribs with a pencil.

Now I cut off most of the extra thickness, just leaving a little there to provide some strength.

This will leave me with a little bit to sand off later.

Here is the wing with the ribs fitted.  Note that I have left the smaller spars till later again.
